New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Tuesday that outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury has been shut down because of "a little hip thing" and will remain on the disabled list, according to WFAN's Sweeny Murti.
Ellsbury was initially placed on the 10-day disabled list on March 29 with a right oblique strain and would have been eligible to be activated this week had he not suffered a setback.
Boone added that Aaron Hicks, who hit the 10-day DL one game into the regular season because of an intercostal muscle strain, is progressing and should return in short order.
