The New York Yankees have placed Clarke Schmidt on the 15-day injury list after the right-handed starting pitcher suffered a right lat strain, the team announced Thursday.
The Yankees also announced that they have recalled right-handed reliever Cody Morris from Triple-A.
The news comes ahead of New York's final game of a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night. The Yankees won the second matchup 2-1 after dropping the first game of the series 4-3.
