The New York Yankees suffered a late collapse against the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Championship Series on Thursday night, losing by the final score of 7-5 in extra innings.
The Yankees were on the verge of taking a 3-0 series lead, owning a 5-3 advantage in the bottom of the ninth inning. With two outs and a runner on second, Guardians outfielder Jhonkensy Noel hit a two-run, game-tying homer off Luke Weaver.
Clay Holmes entered the game for New York in the 10th frame, but Cleveland was able to strike with two outs once again.
