What A Theo Epstein Contract Extension Might Look Like

Has Theo done enough to reclaim the title of baseball’s highest paid executive?

When the Chicago Cubs first hired Theo Epstein in 2011, the cupboard was almost completely bare. Having just dealt for Matt Garza, which cost the Cubs a young pitcher named Chris Archer among other players, former GM Jim Hendry attempted to save his job at the expense of the farm system. Epstein knew of the long task ahead of him, and more importantly, of the opportunity that turning around this perennially losing franchise afforded his already prestigious legacy.
