The Detroit Tigers lost their home opener to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 13 innings Friday, but the replay review that extended the game in the 10th might not have been legitimately overturned.
As the MLB offices explained to Tigers general manager Al Avila, mistakes were made in the process that took too long to complete the review before ruling out the potential game-winning run, per Evan Woodbery of MLive.com.
"The explanation was they didn't really have conclusive evidence that somebody tagged him," manager Rod Gardenhire said Monday. "Yes, he might have got him.
