Three Strikes: Gary Sanchez makes history; Mets try to move past injuries

The MLB season continues to wind down, but there is still plenty of intrigue in every division. Here are three things that stood out on Wednesday.

The Sanchize

Once upon a time, the hopes of New York rested on Mark Sanchez’s shoulder. The “Sanchize” as he was called.

No longer. Nowadays, the only Sanchize in New York plays catcher in the Bronx. Gary Sanchez is so good that, even in 45 games, he might be leading the AL Rookie of the Year Race.

Sanchez, as he is wont to do, made history. After hitting a three-run homer in the second inning, he added a solo shot in the sixth to become the fastest player ever to reach that number in the modern era.
