Major League Baseball could be making a huge change in the game after the collective bargaining agreement completes at the end of the calendar year. There have been talks about the National League adopting the designated hitter, moving the game further away from old school baseball. Commissioner Rob Manfred mentioned the move briefly but did not confirm anything. It is a move that has been talked about since the American League adopted the rule in 1973, and it needs to happen relatively soon.
