The Chicago Cubs are hiring David Ross as their next manager, sources told ESPN's Jesse Rogers.
Sources said an announcement of Ross' hire will be made Thursday.
Ross returns to the team where he hit a Game 7 home run in the 2016 World Series to help the Cubs end their 106-year title drought.
This will be Ross' first managerial experience after a 15-year MLB career that ended following the Cubs' World Series win.
Following the Cubs' parting with manager Joe Maddon, Ross has publicly expressed interest in the taking over, calling it one of the best jobs in baseball.
