Slugger Brent Rooker and the Oakland Athletics are in agreement on a five-year, $60 million contract extension, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan on Monday night.
The deal includes a sixth-year vesting option at $22 million that can escalate.
Rooker's extension will pay him $30 million over the first three seasons, which would've been his arbitration years.
Rooker, 30, has been a late bloomer who thrived with the A's, who are now extending him after they turned down opportunities to trade him.
The A's have spent more than $100 million this offseason, one that began with them signing pitcher Luis Severino to a three-year, $67 million contract -- the largest deal in franchise history.
