The San Diego Padres promoted top prospect Austin Hedges late last night. Hedges hit .324/.392/.521 at Triple-A El Paso in 79 plate appearances, including a pair of homers.
At first glance this seems like a very quick and possibly unwarranted promotion. Hedges is considered by many prospect experts to be the best defensive catching prospect in the minors.
