Major League Baseball announced an eight-game suspension for Texas Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor for his part in a bench-clearing brawl Sunday. Blue Jays manager John Gibbons was also suspended three games, per Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
MLB Network's Jon Heyman was the first to report Odor's punishment. Rosenthal confirmed and added that Odor will appeal.
According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, Odor was also fined $5,000.
Odor, 22, landed a flush right punch to Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista's face after the All-Star slugger slid aggressively into second base while attempting to break up a double play.
