Reports: Rockies hire ex-Padres manager Black

The Colorado Rockies will hire former San Diego Padres dugout boss Bud Black as their new manager, according to multiple reports.

Black will replace Walt Weiss, who resigned last month after four seasons.

Black had also interviewed last month and was in the running for the Atlanta Braves' manager job that went to Brian Snitker, who had taken over as interim manager after Fredi Gonzalez was fired midseason.

Black spent nearly 8½ years as San Diego's manager, going 649-713 before he was fired during the 2015 season. He had only two winning records and never led the Padres to the playoffs, though he was picked as NL Manager of the Year in 2010.
