New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard underwent successful Tommy John surgery Thursday, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.
Passan added that if Syndergaard's recovery goes as planned, he will miss 12-14 months and return at some point during the 2021 season.
The Mets announced earlier this week that the flame-thrower would undergo tests after experiencing discomfort in his arm. An MRI revealed he had suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow, requiring Tommy John surgery.
While the setback will keep him off the field for over a year, the team still maintained confidence in his future.
