The Kansas City Royals may well lose Alex Gordon to free agency, with the team unwilling to give him the five year deal he’ll likely find elsewhere.
CBS Sports’s Jon Heyman reports in his latest Inside Baseball roundup that there is a “decent chance” that Gordon doesn’t return to the team, citing the fact that the team would prefer a three year deal, while Gordon should have no trouble getting five years on the open market. Gordon is coming off a team-friendly deal, and the 31-year-old is poised for his first and possibly only big long-term payday in free agency, so he’s unlikely to compromise.
