The Tampa Bay Rays plan to release outfielder Desmond Jennings on Saturday, the team announced.
Jennings, 29, is hitting .200 with seven home runs and 20 RBIs on the season.
“It was time. Best for him, best for us, going forward,” manager Kevin Cash told reporters.
Jennings was placed on the disabled list in early August with a left knee contusion.
