Don’t call it a comeback. Seriously, don’t.
It’s been a decade since 50-year-old Rafael Palmeiro donned a baseball uniform, but he’s coming out of retirement in order to play in one ballgame with his son.
The Sugar Land Skeeters, no strangers to publicity stunts tied to making unconventional signings, announced in a press release that Palmeiro has been signed for the final three games of the season, giving the ballplayer a chance to take the field with son Patrick, who is an infielder with the Atlantic League team.
“We discussed me playing earlier this year, and it’s something I’ve looked forward to since then,” Palmeiro says in the team’s press release, via The Dallas Morning News.
