Pedroia expects to play despite hamstring issue

BOSTON -- Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia was removed in the bottom of the fifth inning of a 10-3 win at Fenway Park on Wednesday because of right hamstring tightness.

Pedroia doubled against Colorado Rockies right-hander Chad Bettis to lead off the inning and was quickly replaced at second base by Marco Hernandez.

Pedroia managed to jog off the field and did not have a noticeable limp, and the Red Sox are calling the move "precautionary."
