The Philadelphia Phillies have called up outfielder Odubel Herrera to the big league club for the first time since 2019 when he was arrested and charged with domestic violence, charges that were later dropped.
John ClarkJoe Girardi on Odubel Herrera returning tonight for first time in almost 2 years “He’s probably going to be held to a higher standard. Not with his production, but his on and off the field actions. Because he is going to be under more scrutiny and I think he understands that” https://t.co/PpMwcNL4bM
The Phillies did not outright release Herrera, though he was suspended for the remainder of the 2019 season after his May 2019 arrest and did not play for the team last season.
