Diamondbacks prospect C/OF Peter O’Brien went 3-for-4 with a home run and double on Monday for Triple-A Reno.
The home run and double were his fourth and fifth of the season, respectively, and he also plated two in the game. He’s batting .404/.429/.766 (.429 BABIP) with 14 RBI and nine strikeouts (but no walks) through 49 plate appearances. O’Brien, 24, entered spring training high on Arizona’s depth chart behind the plate, but he was plagued by a case of yips when throwing the ball back to the pitcher and has since moved to the outfield. He’s seen time at both corner outfield positions at Triple-A Reno (more in left field, though) and, unsurprisingly, is already putting up big power numbers in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.
