Syndergaard Won't Pitch Saturday
Friday, Sept. 23
Per MLB.com's Anthony DiComo, Syndergaard is "extremely under the weather" with strep throat and the Mets will start Sean Gilmartin on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies.
According to DiComo, a potentially bigger issue for the Mets is that the illness is expected to affect Syndergaard's schedule and could knock him out of a start in the National League Wild Card Game if they make it to the postseason.
