Top prospect Jason Groome’s senior season will have to wait.
Jason Groome isn’t a household name yet. However, he’s got a chance to become one, as the high school senior is projected to be the first overall pick in this year’s MLB Draft. (Last month, Baseball America ranked him as the number one draft prospect for 2016.)
The tall lefty is a promising young pitcher with a “special, special arm” per his Perfect Game profile. He tops out at 97 mph with his fastball and also boasts some good offspeed pitches, with an above-average changeup and curveball in his repertoire.
