New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom exits start early with shoulder soreness

New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom left his Wednesday start against the Chicago Cubs after three innings with right shoulder soreness, the team said.

DeGrom, who finished the night with eight strikeouts and no walks on 51 pitches, was replaced by Sean Reid-Foley.

DeGrom lowered his ERA to 0.54 on the season.

This was deGrom's first start since he exited last Friday's game against the San Diego Padres after six innings with right flexor tendinitis.
