Nestor Cortes, Yankees Have 'Weighed the Consequences' of World Series Roster Spot

Nestor Cortes hasn't pitched for the New York Yankees since Sept. 18 due to a left elbow flexor strain, and doing so during the World Series would potentially put him at further risk for a serious injury, perhaps even one requiring Tommy John surgery.

It's a gamble he's willing to make.

"The conversations have been really clear throughout the whole postseason," he told reporters Tuesday. "We have weighed the consequences that this can lead up to, but if I have a ring and then a year off of baseball, then so be it.
