The long-running saga over the long-term home of the Tampa Bay Rays appears to be nearing a conclusion.
The Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin reported Monday the Rays are expected to announce a deal for a new stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida. The venue would be built near the team's current home, Tropicana Field, and open for the 2028 MLB season.
The cost for the $1.2 billion venture would be shared between the Rays, St. Petersburg and Pinellas County, per Topkin.
