The Boston Red Sox reached the American League Championship Series seven times and won four World Series from 2003 through 2021 but have been a far cry from that stretch of dominance in the three years since.
And they are reportedly making a number of changes as a result.
The Boston Globe and Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reported Wednesday the Red Sox fired six different coaches from their staff after a third straight season of failing to make the playoffs.
Here is a list of who was fired:
- First base coach Andy Fox
- Bullpen coach Kevin Walker
- Assistant hitting coach Luis Ortiz
- Mental skills coach Rey Fuentes
- Trainer Ben Chadwick
- Bullpen catcher Mani Martinez
Many of them had been with the organization for years with Fox joining in 2011, Walker joining in 2020, Ortiz joining in 2022, Fuentes joining in 2020, Chadwick joining in 2023 and Martinez joining in 2005.
