The San Francisco Giants are reportedly unlikely to find much traction in trading third baseman Matt Chapman or starting pitcher Blake Snell before the deadline.
Jeff Passan of ESPN reported the player options owned by Chapman and Snell are unattractive to potential trade partners.
Chapman signed a three-year, $54 million contract this offseason that includes player options for the 2025 and 2026 seasons and a mutual option for the 2027 campaign. Snell's two-year, $62 million deal includes a $38.5 million option for next season.
The contractual flexibility makes Chapman and Snell unattractive for very different reasons.
