An opt-out clause is the "sticking point" between the Pittsburgh Pirates and outfielder Bryan Reynolds in their ongoing contract extension talks, per Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic.
However, there's still cause for optimism. For starters, the two sides have agreed on the financial parameters (eight years, $106.75 million). That includes Reynolds' pay this season ($6.75 million) plus an extra seven seasons and $100 million.
Reynolds has also agreed to backload some money, and a no-trade clause will not be included in the contract either.
In addition, the disagreement over the opt-out clause hasn't led to either side breaking off talks.
