The Houston Astros and infielder Alex Bregman aren't close to a contract extension, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
Bregman is currently playing on a six-year contract that he signed with Houston in 2019 and is set to hit free agency following the 2024 season. Per Heyman, the "belief" is that the Astros would prefer to keep any future extension in the range of five to six years.
The 30-year-old has spent all nine seasons of his career in Houston.
