Women continue to struggle to break in to the league as MLB has yet to introduce female umpires.
In 2015, the NFL introduced its first female referee into the league and joined the NBA as the only two major professional sports with women officiating regular-season games. Although female participation in all levels of professional sports has increased since the passing of Title IX almost 40 years ago, officiating at this level for women has remained tough to crack.
Can similar milestones be expected within other top sports? While other industries make the moves to incorporate more women, it serves as a startling reminder of the lack of female representation amongst Major League umpires.
