The New York Mets officially punched their ticket to the postseason with an 8-7 comeback win over the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of Monday's regular-season-finale doubleheader.
It was a dramatic victory that saw the Mets overcome a three-run deficit after going scoreless through seven innings with six runs in the eighth. When the Braves took a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the frame, New York star shortstop Francisco Lindor hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the ninth.
The Braves are still alive, as a win in Game 2 would give them the final wild-card spot in the National League.
