Baseball’s Hall of Fame should go back to allowing the players a choice of what team they want to represent.
Ken Griffey Jr. will be heading into Cooperstown wearing a Seattle Mariners’ cap, and Mike Piazza will be going in with a New York Mets’ hat. Crisis has been averted, at least for now. When you think of both of these players, you think of the Mariners and Mets, but some would make the case for other teams, as they both spent significant time elsewhere.
Unfortunately, players don’t get to choose the team they represent anymore; it’s left up to the Hall of Fame.
