Major League Baseball's spring training has seen its fair share of odd injuries, but Brandon Nimmo may have outdone them all on Wednesday.
According to New York Mets manager Mickey Callaway, Nimmo was sidelined from team workouts and the ensuing exhibition game against the Marlins by food poisoning. The cause of the illness?
Nimmo ate undercooked chicken he had prepared himself.
"I guess he cooked some chicken and didn't know how to cook or something," Callaway said. "He was throwing up all night. So, we're going to have to teach him how to cook so he doesn't miss any more games.
