New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza is denying any ill intent from Yohan Ramírez after the Mets reliever threw behind Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins during Saturday's matchup between the two teams.
Ramírez was ejected after the incident, but Mendoza clarified following the 7-6 loss that Ramírez did not intentionally attempt to throw at Hoskins.
"He's trying to pitch up-and-in, trying to get a ground ball with a sinker," Mendoza said. "That happens. When you see his reaction, he's going after the ball. I know it looks really, really bad, but we are not trying to hit anybody here.
