As an English major, I used to spend a lot of time thinking about the types of conflict in our stories and which ones would be best suited to the kind of work I planned to do. Man vs. nature? Man vs. man? Man vs. self? Man vs. society? The scroll of possibilities is as long as it is useless. If a story is a story, conflict will emerge. If it doesn't, it's not story.
