When the San Diego Padres' Clint Barmes hit a grounder back to the mound with one out in the second inning of Sunday's game, it looked like Chicago Cubs pitcher Jon Lester was going to start an inning-ending double play.
Instead, Lester should be thankful that he was even able to get one out on the play.
The ball got stuck in Lester's glove, preventing him from making a throw. However, with some quick thinking, the southpaw tossed his glove to first baseman Anthony Rizzo—who ditched his glove—to get the out.
The Cubs probably don't practice that play, but they made it look easy.
