Twins prospect RHP Chih-Wei Hu struck out six batters in six scoreless innings on Wednesday for High-A Fort Myers.
He allowed four hits and two walks in the game. Hu, 21, has dominated Florida State League hitters through six starts this season, going 4-0 with a 1.03 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, .185 opponents’ batting average and 36/6 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 35 innings. The Taiwanese right-hander flashed his upside last season between Rookie-level Elizabethton and Low-A Cedar Rapids, posting a 2.15 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 64/15 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 71 innings (13 games/12 starts), so it’s not surprising that he’s off to a fantastic start in the pitcher-friendly Florida State League.
