Boston Red Sox designated hitter Hanley Ramirez left Thursday's game against the New York Yankees in the first inning after being hit on the wrist by a pitch from Sonny Gray.
Ramirez, 34, underwent X-rays that came back negative, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today. He was replaced by Mitch Moreland.
In his third season in Boston, Ramirez has been inconsistent during his time with the Red Sox. He hit .242/.320/.429 with 23 home runs and 62 runs batted in last season, struggling while being unable to play much in the field.
