George Springer Day-to-Day After Elbow Injury Diagnosed as Contusion

Houston Astros center fielder George Springer suffered an elbow injury after being hit by a pitch in the third inning of Friday's game against the Texas Rangers.

The team announced the outfielder was day-to-day with a left elbow contusion.

Springer was nagged by several injuries last year, including a quad ailment that landed him on the 10-day disabled list.

However, none of those bumps and bruises proved particularly serious as he slashed .283/.367/.522 with career highs of 34 home runs and 85 RBI en route to his first career All-Star berth.
