Dexter Fowler was an unexpected addition to Chicago Cubs spring training Thursday, as the team announced that the two sides had agreed to a one-year deal.
Fowler's contract includes a mutual option for 2017. He rejoins the Cubs after spending the 2015 season with them.
The signing comes two days after Fowler had been linked to a deal with the Baltimore Orioles. ESPN and media reports had said Fowler and the Orioles had agreed to a three-year deal.
