Major League Baseball is mourning the death of former Atlanta Braves pitcher Tommy Hanson.
Hanson, who suffered catastrophic organ failure, went into a coma and was transferred to an Atlanta hospital, Zach Klein of WBS-TV reported, via a source. Hanson died Monday at the hospital.
Hanson amassed a 49-35 record, a 3.80 ERA and 648 strikeouts in his five-year major league career. He finished third in the 2009 National League Rookie of the Year voting, his first of four seasons with the Braves. The right-hander last pitched in the majors in 2013 for the Los Angeles Angels.
