Veteran third baseman Josh Donaldson retired on Monday after 13 MLB seasons:
Donaldson most recently was a member of the Milwaukee Brewers, going 2-for-7 in the team's National League Wild Card Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He spent most of the past two seasons with the New York Yankees before he was released in August.
Donaldson told The Score's Josh Wegman in November that he was "up for playing one more year."
However, he won't get that chance.
A former American League MVP, Donaldson saw a sharp decline in his performance over the past few years.
