The Oakland Athletics bolstered their bullpen Saturday with the addition of right-handed pitcher Edward Mujica via a trade with the Boston Red Sox.
The Athletics official Twitter account noted that Oakland gave up cash considerations and a player to be named later to acquire Mujica.
The timing is interesting because Boston recently designated Mujica for assignment. He boasts a 1-1 record with a 4.61 ERA in 13.2 innings of work this season, and opponents hit .294 with three home runs against him in that span.
