With the score knotted at 5-5 after the eighth inning, the game remained tied until Yasiel Puig drove in Adrian Gonzalez and Howie Kendrick after a single to center field in the top of the 17th frame. Puig appeared to celebrate the hit as he left the batter's box, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register:
Yasiel Puig with a 2run single. Was pointing/gesturing at the dugout as soon as he left the batters box

The gesturing may have been an expression of relief, as Puig struggled for much of the day leading up to the critical RBI, per Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times:
Puig stranded one in 2nd, ran into an out in 5th, stranded two in 8th, declined to run on a bunt in 9th and struck out in 11th.
