The July 31 MLB trade deadline is a little more than a month away. Rumors are wafting like barbecue vapors on the warm summer breeze.

As we plunge headlong into speculation-and-swapping season, here are eight predictions for deals that and will will not go down based on the latest rumblings and some old-fashioned gut feeling.

Will they all prove correct? Probably not. Are they fun to ponder and debate? You bet.

Deal: Kansas City Royals Trade Lorenzo Cain to Los Angeles Dodgers

    At 37-37, the Kansas City Royals sit just 2.5 games out in the American League Central.
