David Wright made his first appearance in the major leagues for the New York Mets since 2016 as a pinch hitter on Friday night.
Wright, who is retiring at the end of the season, jumped on the first pitch from Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Urena and grounded out to third base in the fifth inning. He received a standing ovation at Citi Field.
The Mets are planning to start Wright at third base on Saturday in a farewell game after the 35-year-old's long road back from a string of serious injuries.
