Dansby Swanson becomes the first key player for the Atlanta Braves who hasn't signed an extension with the club.
Per ESPN's Jeff Passan, Swanson is finalizing a deal with the Chicago Cubs. The final numbers on the deal "should be done sometime soon," Passan added.
Originally selected No. 1 overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2015, Swanson was traded to Atlanta six months after the draft as part of a deal for Shelby Miller and Gabe Speier.
