Conor Gillaspie hit a two-run triple off Cubs closer Aroldis Chapman in the eighth inning of NLDS Game 3 to give the Giants a late 4–3 lead.
With two on and no out, and San Francisco behind 3–2, Chicago skipper Joe Maddon brought in Chapman to face Hunter Pence. After Pence struck out, Gillaspie took a high 101 mph fastball from Chapman to rightfield, just over the outstretched glove of Albert Amora.
The ball left his bat at 103 mph.
Gillaspie’s game-winning three-run homer off Mets closer Jeurys Familia in the NL wild card game is the reason the Giants are in the series in the first place.
