Chicago Cubs getting creative to find a spot for Javier Baez

Throughout both his major and minor league career, Javier Baez has been shuffled around the diamond. The one constant has always been his bat.

The Chicago Cubs drafted Baez as a shortstop with the ninth overall selection of the 2011 draft. He moved from short and began working at second base in 2014 due to Starlin Castro‘s presence in Chicago. Now, beginning this week, he will transition again over to third base.

Jaron Madison, the Cubs director of player development, told the Des Moines Register via text message that their new plan is to begin getting Baez some starts at third base in Iowa.
