Mets prospect SS Gavin Cecchini went 1-for-3 with a solo home run on Monday for Double-A Binghamton.
Cecchini quietly has enjoyed a strong first month at Binghamton, batting .325/.381/.506 with nine extra-base hits and a 7/6 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 22 games. The uptick in production for the 22-year-old is a good sign, as he’s just a .258/.326/.364 hitter in 257 career minor league games. He did begin to show more in-game power last year, accruing eight homers, 27 doubles and five triples between the Low- and High-A levels, but he’s unlikely to offer more than below-average pop at maturity.
