The Toronto Blue Jays have reached an agreement on a three-year deal for John Schneider to become the team's full-time manager, it was announced Friday.
The agreement also includes a team option for the 2026 season.
Schneider took over on an interim basis in July after Charlie Montoyo was fired following a 46-42 start to this season. The Blue Jays finished with a 92-70 record -- second in the AL East -- and lost to Seattle in the AL wild-card series.
He becomes the team's 14th manager.
Drafted by the Blue Jays as a catcher in 2002, Schneider spent six seasons in Toronto's minor leagues, rising as high as Triple-A in 2007 before becoming a coach the following year.
